Curriculum Development and Coordination Department (CDCU) Department Mandate
The Curriculum Development and Coordination Unit (CDCU) is charged with ensuring that all training programs meet the specific needs of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). The CDCU is responsible for monitoring and ensuring that training is delivered in strict accordance with the standards and guidelines set by the JCF, the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ), ISO 9001:2015, and the HEART NSTA Trust Quality Assurance Guidelines for training provision.
The unit leads and encourages innovation in course content, delivery methodologies, and instructor training. CDCU collaborates closely with subject matter experts and other relevant stakeholders to prepare, implement, monitor, evaluate, review, and quality assure all aspects of curriculum design and training delivery, ensuring continuous improvement and relevance to operational requirements.

Curriculum Design and Implementation:
Design, implement, and regularly review curricula and support materials to ensure they are aligned with the training needs of the police college and the wider JCF.
Policy Development:
Develop and support policies geared towards effective knowledge and skill development training programs within the JCF framework.
Supervisory Role:
Provide functional supervisory oversight to academic staff and instructors involved in curriculum delivery and development.
Managerial Responsibilities:
Apply strong managerial skills and abilities to ensure the effective functioning of the academic programs, maintaining high standards of quality and relevance.
Quality Assurance:
Lead quality assurance initiatives to ensure all training programs meet the regulatory and accreditation standards (JCF, UCJ, ISO 9001:2015, HEART NSTA Trust).
Innovation and Collaboration:
Foster innovation in curriculum content and teaching methodologies and work collaboratively with stakeholders, including subject matter experts and training personnel, to maintain and enhance training delivery.
