Mr. Merrick Watson

The Assistant Commissioner of Police and Director of the National Police College of Jamaica, Mr. Merrick Watson, JP, brings to the office more than 35 years of exemplary service in security, law enforcement, and public safety, with professional exposure and influence spanning both local and international contexts.

As Director, the Assistant Commissioner provides strategic and academic leadership for the institution responsible for shaping the professional standards, operational readiness, and ethical foundation of regional law enforcement personnel. His tenure reflects a deep commitment to institutional excellence, leadership development, curriculum advancement, and the continuous strengthening of policing capacity.

With a career distinguished by discipline, integrity, and service, Mr Merrick Watson continues to guide the National Police College of Jamaica in its mission to prepare competent, accountable, and forward-thinking police professionals capable of responding to the evolving demands of modern public safety.


 

Mr. Aaron Fletcher SSP

As one of our Deputy Directors, Mr. Aaron Fletcher, plays a pivotal role in supporting the Director and overseeing the day-to-day operations of NPCJ and the Faculty of Operations Management Skills and Training. With a background in national security, Mr. Aaron Fletcher brings over 30 years of experience to the institution, focusing on enhancing training effectiveness and operational and tactical programme development.

 

Mrs. Maldria Jones-Williams

Administrative Director of the Faculty of Criminal Investigations Training (FCIT)

 
Mrs Maldria Jones-Williams is the Administrative Director in charge of the Faculty of Criminal Investigations and Training, providing strategic and administrative leadership for the planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation of investigative training programmes. The role supports the development of competent investigators by ensuring that training is aligned with organisational priorities, legal standards, operational needs and contemporary investigative practices. The Administrative Director oversees faculty operations, supports curriculum implementation, monitors programme quality, coordinates instructional resources and promotes professional standards among staff and trainees.

 

 

 

Dr. Jacqueline Edwards SP

Faculty of Leadership and Professional Development 

Dr. Jacqueline Edwards, Superintendent of Police, is a member of the NPCJ's Senior Management Team, and head of the Faculty of Leadership and Professional Development with close to 36 years of distinguished service in the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). In this position, she has been instrumental in shaping the backbone of leadership education within the JCF and across various police forces in the Caribbean, including Royal Anguilla, Guyana, Turks and Caicos and the British Virgin Islands, as well as public safety organisations locally, such as the Jamaica Fire Brigade, Jamaica Customs and the Department of Correctional Services. 

Mr. Lawrence Ogilvie SP

Mr. Lawrence Ogilvie serves as the Head of the Faculty of Initial and Probationary Training and plays a critical senior leadership role in shaping the development of new entrants into the Jamaica Constabulary Force. Mr. Ogilvie is responsible for overseeing the structured transition of trainees from civilians to professional constables, ensuring that they acquire the knowledge, discipline, values, attitudes, and operational competencies required for effective policing. Through strategic oversight of training delivery, trainee welfare, discipline, assessment, and faculty coordination, Mr. Ogilvie ensures that recruits are prepared to meet JCF standards and serve the public with integrity, professionalism, and accountability.

 


Mrs. Nacene Thompson

Mrs. Nacene Thompson plays a critical senior leadership role in advancing the academic and professional training mandate of the institution. As the head of the Curriculum Development and Coordination Department, Mrs. Thompson provides strategic oversight for curriculum planning, development, review, and implementation across training programmes. The role also includes responsibility for quality assurance of all training-related activities, ensuring that courses, assessments, instructional delivery, and programme outcomes are aligned with institutional standards, national requirements, and the operational needs of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
