Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice (A.Sc.)

Program Overview

The Associate Degree in Criminal Justice is a two-year, part-time program offered through the Faculty of Leadership and Professional Development (FLPD) at the National Police College of Jamaica.
 
This program is designed for working professionals across various government agencies and private sector organizations, though private sector professionals may also benefit from this training. It provides a comprehensive curriculum that enhances communication skills and deepens knowledge of central and local government operations, statutory bodies, public corporations, and executive agencies. Professionals from the private sector will also find this training beneficial.

General Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
 
  1. CXC/CSEC or GCE O’Level: Passes in a minimum of five (5) subjects, including Mathematics and English Language at the General Proficiency at grades I or II pre-1998; and Grades I, II, or III from June 1998.
 
  • Provisional Acceptance:  Applicants without Mathematics may be provisionally accepted if they have registered or plan to register to sit CXC/CSEC/GCE Mathematics. An acceptable pass grade in Mathematics is required before graduating.
 
  1. Tertiary Qualifications: An Associate Degree, Diploma, or Certificate from an approved tertiary institution with a minimum B+ average or GPA of 2.5.
 
  1. Adult matriculation will be considered for applicants over age thirty (30) who have at least five (5) years of relevant work experience.
 

Registration Process

 
  1. Application:
All prospective students must:
  • Complete the application form available here
  • Submit required documents (birth certificate, two passport-size photos, certificates of qualification, etc.) along with a JMD1,000 processing fee to the Finance Department.
 
2. Acceptance:
  • Email notification will be sent regarding the result of applications by the Programme Coordinator.
  • Where admittance if offered, sign and return the acceptance slip the department’s office.
 
3. Financial Arrangements:
  • Registration is not considered complete until all financial obligations to the College are fulfilled.
  • Students must complete all financial arrangements prior to beginning classes each semester.
  • Students with outstanding payments will be restricted from exams, and may be deregistered.

  • Payments should be submitted at the Finance Office in the Administrative Block, NPCJ, Twickenham Park.
