The Caribbean Search Centre
 
A joint security venture between the British and Jamaican Governments.   The Centre is one of two such facilities worldwide and was established at the Jamaica Police Academy (J.P.A.) at Twickenham Park, St. Catherine in May 2001 and became fully functional in June 2001.
Members were initially trained to conduct the following searches:
  • Person Search
  • Prison Search
  • Non-Disruptive Building Search
  • Vessel Search
  • Vehicle Search
  • Aircraft Search
  • Venue Search
  • Missing Person Search
The members of the Caribbean Search Centre were initially drawn from four (4) different agencies of the Ministry of National Security, namely: The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), Jamaica Defense Force (JDF), the Department of Correctional Services (DCS), and the Jamaica Customs Department (JCD).
  • To assist police divisions, formations, and other law enforcement agencies in executing systematic search operations professionally, safely, efficiently, and legally, without causing collateral damage or disruption to routine activities.
  • Equipping law enforcement agencies in the English-speaking Caribbean with the requisite competencies to reduce criminal capabilities and activities related to the use of as well as the trans-shipment of illegal drugs, arms and ammunition, and other contraband through the ports.
  • To provide training in Systematic Search Techniques and advice to regional law enforcement agencies.
Our Aim
Is to provide specialized training in search techniques, with a view of improving the crime-fighting capabilities of the Jamaica Constabulary Force and its auxiliaries and that of other law enforcement officers in other Caribbean regions, in order to:
  1. Deprive criminals of resources;
  2. Disrupt criminal activities;
  3. Gain evidence to secure convictions; and
  4. Gain information for intelligence purposes
